Dr. Preciosa M. Coloma is a board-certified pharmacist, clinically-trained physician, and clinical epidemiologist whose education and training, qualification and experience span three continents. She has a PhD in Pharmacoepidemiology and Medical Informatics from the Erasmus MC University Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and her PhD thesis entitled ‘Mining Electronic Healthcare Record Databases to Augment Drug Safety Surveillance’ describes the opportunities and challenges of combining multi-country electronic healthcare record (EHR) databases as encountered in the EU FP7-funded EU‐ADR Project. She received the BAZIS Prijs 2012 for the best thesis in the field of medical informatics, an award given once every two years for PhD research that has been done in a Dutch or Belgian (Dutch-speaking) university. She is primary author of several key publications of the EU-ADR Project and a regular peer reviewer for various journals including Annals of Internal Medicine, PLOS One, Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, BMJ Open, Applied Clinical Informatics, Drug Safety, Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety, Expert Opinion Drug Safety, British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Journal of Clinical Pharmacy and Therapeutics, BMC Health Services Research, and BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
