Benedikt Becker was born in Germany, August 1983. He studied Computer Science and Cognitive Science at University Freiburg, with a focus on compiler construction, cognitive modeling, and artificial intelligence. He obtained his Diploma in 2011 with a research thesis on “Bayesian rationality and spatial reasoning”.

Between 2007 and 2011 he worked as a freelance software engineer. From 2011 to 2013 he was employed as a research engineer at IRILL (Initiative de Recherche et Innovation sur le Logiciel Libre), Paris.

In 2013 he started his PhD on the application of NLP and machine learning methods for benefits/risk monitoring of vaccines at the Biosemantics group.
